Working in nursing for a decade, advancing into nursing leadership with overlapping fire and EMS leadership roles, Jeremy continued pursuing a life-long goal by becoming a nurse practitioner. Having been primarily in emergency medicine, he has also had opportunities to practice in critical care, community health, preventative medicine, disaster response, and healthcare administration.

Jeremy obtained his Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of South Alabama, where he previously completed a Masters degree and Nurse Practitioner training. He has achieved a total of 7 degrees over the years, proud with a strong focus on continued education throughout his lifetime. Jeremy has also shared his learning, accepting appointments to teach in multiple community college settings and with the University of Maryland.

When presented with an upcoming transfer and multiple options for placement, Jeremy was already scheduled for a vacation to the crystal coast. During the trip, he accepted a position and began looking for a new home, falling in love with Pamlico County in general and Oriental in particular. This led to recognition of a need for increased health services in the community, and a calling to help fill this void.

After spending most of his life in the fire service, Jeremy began volunteering in the local community. He has also engaged with a local church. Other interests include home improvement projects, tinkering with his truck, and outdoor sports. He has 4 children and enjoys spending time with family and their dog, Rocky.

Frequent Questions:

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow">
What does it mean to be a Doctor of Nursing Practice?

Doctor is a term of educational attainment. It applies to those that have dedicated themselves to study of their field, committing to ongoing learning and the exchange of knowledge. Some pursue a doctorate in philosophy, some in medicine, some in nursing practice, and many more. As a nurse practitioner with a doctorate in nursing practice, Jeremy has combined many years of healthcare practice at different levels, with the academic commitment to becoming among those at the highest levels of the profession. While he is not a Medical Doctor (MD) or a Doctor of Osteopathy (DO), commonly referred to as physicians, Jeremy has attained his title Doctor and his licensure through the nurse practitioner pathway instead.

</details>

<details class="wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow">
Are you a doctor?

While some physicians in political action seek to dominate the title “Doctor”, this title is an academic title and is not limited to physicians.
