At Pamlico Health, we’re focused on wellness. Helping you be well is our goal. We seek to accomplish this by meeting many of these needs, and helping to connect you with the right resources to meet the others.
Achieving wellness is not something we can do for you, but something we can do WITH YOU. To do this, we come alongside you, treating the medical conditions you face, while also guiding you to the resources you need to achieve and sustain personal wellness.

To help you achieve wellness, we offer the following services:
Traditional Primary Care
We get to know you and your health needs, ordering the tests, referrals, and treatments you need, to help you be well. We can care for patients across the lifespan, but generally recommend that children under 5 remain with a pediatrician, when possible.
We provide all primary care, including but not limited to problems with blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, heart disease, COPD and asthma, arthritis, digestive disorders, and sick visits.
Concierge Services
We use a hybrid concierge model. In this model an annual membership fee includes direct access to your provider for questions and support, with extended visit times and rapid scheduling available, while your physical exams and sick visits are still billed to your insurance company or Medicare, like a traditional primary care.
Due to the highly personalized involvement, only a limited number of concierge openings are available.
Urgent Visits
Do you think you need to go to Urgent Care? Perhaps a concern for strep throat, viral illness, UTI, or a small cut. We can often accommodate similar care. With experience in emergency medicine, you can get the same exam as you would in the ER, close to home. However, we do not have all of the imaging and lab resources, so there are times when this is just not the best choice for you, and we’ll be sure to let you know when you call. *See below*
Just Dropping In
Being in the sailing capital of North Carolina, we often have visitors from along the east coast and around the world. Sometimes things happen and you just need some help. Perhaps your prescription ran out, you’ve noticed a change in a chronic condition, or you’re traveling so much that you’ve lost touch with your primary care. No reason to ruin your trip, let’s see how we can help. We also offer telehealth visits to our sailing friends in open waters, as long as we’ve met in person for establishment of care first (for regulatory reasons).
Telehealth
On the go? Can’t get in to see us? That’s ok, let’s use technology to get you the healthcare that you deserve. To become a telehealth client, we must have seen you at least once in person, for regulatory reasons. There are a few exceptions to this. Contact us, if you’re looking to set up a telehealth appointment.
If you believe you are having an emergency that needs care now, go to the ER or call 9-1-1. Don’t even wait to read the rest of this page (unless you’re really not sure).
Common reasons to go to the ER include:
- New or sudden chest pain, shortness of breath, or irregularity in your pulse that is fast or slow
- An acute injury with bleeding you can’t control using direct pressure
- Any visual disturbance or sudden feeling that the room is spinning or unsteady, slurring of speech, change in facial expression, or difficulty controlling an extremity
- Any change in your ability to stay awake
- Fever that is not responding 90 minutes after Tylenol and/or Ibuprofen (not all patients should use these medications, consider if you’ve been advised not to take one or both of them)
- If your fever is connected to a wound or breathing problems, don’t wait
- If your fever is connected to fast heart rate or known infection, don’t wait
- Any head injury after age 60 or while on a blood thinning medication
- Any head injury that involves loss of consciousness or lasting confusion
- A sudden intense headache, coming on like a clap of thunder, especially after a recent injury
- Pain in your testicles or ovaries
- Bleeding in pregnancy or other pregnancy complications
- Any other condition that you believe is a new emergency
- This list cannot be exhaustive of every reason. Though, we have listed many of the most concerning.
We’ll be happy to see you for a follow up visit, to ensure that you are recovering completely, and to help you manage your long-term needs.
